Campaigner raises over £500 in Bristol 10K race for the Jessie May Trust
06 May 2008
A local campaigner has completed the Bristol 10k to raise £500 for the local charity, with donations still coming in, for The Jessie May Trust and their 'Precious Time' Appeal. Charlotte Leslie, the Conservative prospective MP for Bristol North West finished the race in just under an hour. Charlotte was inspired to raise money for the charity after hearing a presentation about their work at a dinner hosted by the Bristol Brunel Lions Club.
The Jessie May Trust provides nursing care at home for children with a terminal illness in the Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire areas. The charity receives no statutory funding and so relies totally on voluntary contributions to fund its service.
Charlotte commented
"After hearing about the work The Jessie May Trust does, I didn't feel I had much choice but to try and raise money for them. So many of us take our families for granted. The Jessie May Trust enables families with children who have terminal illnesses to make the most of the very precious time they have left together. I'm quite pleased the race is over, but the lines are still open for giving at www.justgiving.com/charlotteleslie4jessiemaytrust "
